Louis Vuitton Maison Osaka Midosuji, the flagship store of Louis Vuitton located in Osaka, Japan, officially opened in 2020. It was designed in collaboration between Japanese architect Jun Aoki and American interior designer Peter Marino.
Exterior Design:
The building's exterior was inspired by the sails of the Edo-era Japanese trading ships known as "Higaki Kaisen." Osaka, often referred to as the "City of Water," reflects its historical background through the introduction of sail-shaped curved curtain walls.
These sail-like structures are composed of highly transparent double-curved glass panels, with ceramic frit applied to the exterior glass to create a white fabric-like pattern. This design softly filters light, creating a calming effect. Additionally, the metal framework gives the impression that the building is floating on water.
Interior Design:
The interior was designed with a concept that connects the maritime era with traditional Japanese culture. Wooden flooring evokes the image of a ship's deck, while wooden-clad columns and metallic ceilings resemble the grandeur of a luxury yacht. Spanning four floors, the store features clothing and accessories as well as historical Louis Vuitton objects and contemporary art pieces curated by Peter Marino.
After shopping at Louis Vuitton Maison Osaka Midosuji, why not enjoy an fine dining experience at Le Café V and Sugalabo V, located on the top floor? 😊
